The intention is what matters.

More recently, our daughter sent us several mounted framed photos from an important family event. They arrived in packing that leads me to believe she did not see the finished product before it was shipped. While one of the photos was excellent, others were very poorly reproduced. My husband and I struggled with how to handle this ‘bad present’ situation; clearly, our daughter paid good money for something and her supplier failed her. Ultimately, we thanked her sincerely, displayed the well-reproduced photo and put the others away.

There really is almost no way to handle a present that fails to please you as the receiver except to thank the sender sincerely.
